Battle River Railway — Driedmeat Creek Bridge Replacements
Three timber trestle bridges replaced with buried concrete box culverts on an active shortline — each within a seven-day track closure, returned to service ahead of schedule.
Road to Rail Construction successfully completed the replacement of three timber trestle railway bridges located along Driedmeat Creek within the Battle River watershed. The project involved removing aging timber bridge structures and replacing them with buried concrete box culverts designed to improve the long-term reliability, safety and performance of the rail corridor.
As work was completed on an active shortline railway, strict scheduling was critical: each bridge location was limited to a seven-day track closure window, requiring detailed planning, precise execution and seamless coordination between all crews and stakeholders. Despite challenging site conditions and aggressive timelines, the project was completed safely and the railway was returned to service ahead of schedule.
