WEST YELLOWHEAD REGIONAL LANDFILL – CELL 8 CONSTRUCTION, HINTON

LANDFILL CONSTRUCTION

Nestled in the scenic foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the West Yellowhead Regional Landfill – Cell 8 project encompassed a 3 tier composite lined above and below ground landfill cell. This ambitious project required the excavation of 300,000 cubic meters of material, alongside the installation of a composite liner, leachate collection system, aggregate protection and granular drainage layers, followed by topsoil placement and the construction of access roads. Despite navigating significant rainfall and multiple force majeure events ranging from forest fires, highway closures and evacuations to material supply issues due to port strikes, our team adapted and completed the work through strategic planning, unwavering dedication and strong teamwork.
